We often hear people joking about mid-life crises, & do not expect anyone to believe there's such a thing as a quarter-life crisis. But I am here to tell you, it is not as cliché, a quarter-life crisis is the real deal.
The world today is nothing like it was for the last generation or the one before that, although they certainly had their own versions of a quarter-life crisis; they are just not comparable to the influences that can trigger a quarter-life crisis in today's digital world, where youth are inundated. Affecting 86% of 25-33 year olds globally, with women more likely to experience a quarter-life crisis, it's hard to believe it's so overlooked & considered a cliché.
So, what is a quarter-life crisis? Simply put, it is a phase of heavy self-reflection while moving into adulthood. No one plans for a quarter-life crisis, nor do they experience it in the same way as their peers, this is because our unique lived experiences play a significant role in how a crisis can take form.
Things which are typical milestones throughout life, such as graduating from college, the end of a meaningful relationship, or grief from various periods of life; you know those highly stressful times in life? For some, a significant event can be just the thing to push the threshold of their current state of mind. This can result in rabbit holes of questioning our life's purpose & the choices we've made to date, feeling your peers are ahead of you, not sure how your going to make it on our own, or whether you're surrounding yourself with those who are good for you. Often, looking at life from a newfound perspective can send us into unhinged rabbit holes, impulsive behavior, and feeling all around lost or stuck. Knowing something needs to change but having no idea what or how to get through it.

This all seems very doom and gloom, but the good news is, it doesn't need to be.
When you experience a period of resistance in life, or feel you need to refocus, it can be hard to know where to start or what to do to find a clear path that is unique to you.
